Our Story

We met through a mutual friend in San Diego, CA. We were both shy and hesitant about dating another Indian. We went on numerous dates for over a year which included dining at our favorite local restaurants and adventuring on rock climbing trips. After about a year, we made the biggest mistake of our lives — we introduced our close local families to each other. Both families hit it off and there was a lot of excitement. News of the excitement traveled all the way back to Sunita’s parents who reside in Mumbai, India. Two weeks later, a venue contract was e-signed, a wedding date was set and now we’re hoping you’ll be there to celebrate our wedding.

About Anand

Anand is an accomplished chess player, dominating the World Chess Championships in years 2007-2014, missing victory in only two years. But that’s the story of a different Anand who has been married since ‘96. The Anand that is getting married doesn’t know the difference between a tower piece and a rook, and is much more down to earth. Anand is athletic and enjoys rock climbing and being outdoors. A simpleton, he finds happiness in little things, like hanging out with friends, going out to eat, or even reading a book. Joining the workforce only a few years ago, he aspires to make an impact in medicine by developing new innovations, and is deeply dedicated to his craft. Mamta from Mumbai, and Dilip from London, migrated to California in the 80s to start their life. Three years after their marriage, they were blessed with a beautiful boy, who brought much happiness–Anand. And, three years later, Tamanna was born – completing the family and fulfilling their heart’s desire.

About Sunita

Sunita is strong-willed and focused, and a personality that lends to living an independent and adventurous lifestyle. Whether its river rafting on the Colorado, climbing in Moab, skydiving, or freezing in Iceland to see the Northern lights, Sunita is always looking ahead to find that next adventure, and experience it with close friends and family. Favorite quote: “Those who know do not speak. Those who speak do not know.” Sunita was born in Florida and grew up in Mumbai, India. She returned to the U.S. and moved to California to pursue her passions in technology and business Sunita’s mom, Mayuri, grew up in Chennai and moved to Mumbai to be with her beloved Dhiren. They went on to raise the small but strong, Sunita and her brother, the much taller but gentler Nilay.
